Hobo Nickel, The “Beaver” Haida style Folk Art, Native American, Buffalo Nickel

“In Native American culture, the Beaver represents Determination, Strong-willed, the Builder, Overseer, and Protector.

An ornate and hand carved, modeled in a Native American Haida style of “The Beaver” Totem. This nickel has very nice surfaces and luster.

This is offered with all due respect, in the true HOBO sense.

I have always enjoyed hobo nickels because they are often completely different than the original coin. I remember the first Hobo nickel I bought in 1968 and I have enjoyed them ever since. I have enjoyed creating some, hopefully, “different” but very respectful, hobo nickels.

Thank you for looking” Click for more →

Hobo Nickel..”BoDoc” By Billzach

“I wasn,t going to list this one until next year, but something has come up that I can answer on a ebay listing better then a lot of emails…I sign all my coin carvings with a ”Z” and have been doing so for sixteen years, I signed a few a number of years ago with a fancy Z and maybe 5 with my seller,s name Billzach….They all have a number plus my [Z]..This coin carving is one I named ”BoDoc, if you look close below his nose you can see a die crack, I thought about sanding it out but sometimes they run deep and the die crack may add value..This one has the patina of a old carving on both the obverse and reverse and has my ”Z” and sequence number on rim edge..I keep a record of my carvings with a general description that goes with the sequence number, so if you are ever in doubt about one in a coin shop, etc. email me and I,ll look it up..” Click for more →
